Cary聽Brinegar聽had not planned to be an artist, but that鈥檚 the direction his journey is taking him.
His show of drawings and mixed media, 鈥淛ourney,鈥� is now open at The Gallery in Sams Hall of Fine Arts on the 黑料网 Wesleyan campus and runs through Sept. 20. A reception is planned for 5 p.m. Aug. 27, with remarks at 5:30.
鈥淚鈥檓 not a lifetime artist,鈥澛燘rinegar聽said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 what I鈥檝e done since retiring. It鈥檚 not been just one thing (medium). It鈥檚 been exploring, trying, therapy, etc.鈥�
Brinegar聽has worked in various media since taking up art about 15 years ago, from photography to oil painting. He retired from serving as principal of USD 305鈥檚 Special Education Center.
His work leans toward the abstract, he said, and his watercolors draw inspiration from aerial photography of the rural landscape.
Admission to the Gallery is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
